Confessions of an ABP Conference Dean: Adding up the numbers of a great Conference

Magic number 3Christmas has come and gone, the New Year revelry and associated hangover has faded from consciousness and well intentioned resolutions have no doubt already fallen by the wayside.

However, despite the dark and dreary January nights, the ABP Conference Team has been working hard on the next steps of putting on the 2013 Annual Conference.

Hence, I thought I’d share some of the numbers associated with putting on this year’s event…

How much accessing the wi-fi will cost for the duration of the Conference.  Always frustrating when a hotel expects you to pay silly money for 10 minutes internet access, I’m really happy to announce that wi-fi will be free for the duration of the Conference.

2          Conference Deans, working tirelessly to make sure it all happens.  Having given up their social life for the benefit of the greater good, the next 4 months will see the culmination of all of their hard work.

Keynotes brought in from across the British Isles, and even further afield.  Delivering the latest insights from industry, research and consultancy.  You will want to hear what they have got to say.

6          Places for the price of 5 offer.  This fab group offer is back again.  If you know of  5 other people going to the conference book together and share the discount love!

Piece live funk band Oomph, who will have everyone shaking their thing on the dance floor come Friday night.  Veterans of the Brighton live music scene, and one of the best live Funk bands in the UK, we are very very excited to have them onboard.

10        Minutes drive to the Conference venue from the M4 for those travelling by car.  Follow a couple of windy country roads, and et voila you will find yourself heading up the grand tree-lined drive of Wokefield Park!

12        Sponsors who will be exhibiting and sharing their expertise, latest products and services.  Situated in the main thoroughfare of The Street, delegates will be able to check out what’s on offer over the 3 days.

28        Members of the Conference Team, giving up their free time to help the Deans put on the best Conference ever!  Meeting up together once a month, they plot, scheme and plan their way through every single detail of putting on an event for up to 250 people.

29        The number of minutes it takes to get to Reading from London Paddington Station.  Yes, it really is that quick and easy.

36        Speakers delivering highly engaging interactive workshops, case studies and presentations across a range of topics related to the Conference theme of “Doing more with less: thinking on the edge”.

53        Trains from London that can bring delegates to Reading for the Conference on the Thursday afternoon and Friday morning.  That should cover it!

60        Speaker Submission Forms the team have received from people interested in speaking at the Conference. With some really, really great entries the Speaker team are going to have a tough job of short listing.

350      Parking spaces available for those driving to the Conference venue.  Bagsy the space by the entrance, I’ve got boxes to carry!

376      The number of beautiful en-suite bedrooms available at DeVere Wokefield Park, the stunning new location of the 2013 Annual Conference.

826      Tweets (and counting) sent from the @abpsychologists Twitter account.  This year our Twitter account is being looked after by professional tweeter, the Queen of Tweeple Wendy Kier.  Letting the world know what world know what we are up to 140 characters at a time!
